As the ice frost travelled down Emma’s fingers reaching her forearm, her voice began to tremble. “Regina —- I…I am freezing!”
"I know, I know…" the brunette whispered, concentrating onto the flames to make them bigger, to perhaps warm Emma up enough to break the spell. "The snow is too much, I can’t make the flames any bigger than this…come here, try to melt it off your fingers," she hurried Emma down to her, putting her own coat over Emma’s arms as she thrust her hands as close to the flames as she dared.
"It’s not wor-worki-ing. So-so cold-d."
Regina put her arms around the blonde, moving her hands up and down her body in an attempt to warm her up. The ice frost was moving up Emma’s chest in a vine pattern, dangerous and cold. Emma curled up in her arms, tiny sobs of pain leaving her cold lips in an irregular rhythm.
"Your-r, your coat. You’ll freeze wi-without it, Regina. Put-t it-t on, stupid woman!" Emma suddenly said, trying to muster enough movement to take the mayor’s coat off her red jacket.
The other woman just hold onto her tighter, never stopping her warming up efforts. “Some people are worth freezing for,” she whispered into Emma’s ear, not sure she was heard. Her own fingers started to turn blue and she couldn’t feel her back or her legs at all.
The winds got stronger and Regina never let go of the woman in her arms even after she stopped moving, her features turning into ice and making Regina’s embrace painfully cold.  She sobbed against the ice statue in her arms quietly at first and then with more and more desperation, until she was completely out of it, repeating words she wasn’t sure she knew the meaning of anymore. Love, loved you, loved you.
It wasn’t until she felt soft lips brush her own did Regina realize the winds have stopped and the ice frost against her skin started to melt.
"Just…maybe let’s not freeze right now, okay?" Emma whispered, moving her arms up to return Regina’s tight embrace.
—-
"That was your stupidest plan yet!" Anna groaned, watching the mayor and sheriff from a distance.
"It worked, didn’t it?" Elsa smirked, lazily moving her hands in the air to slowly unfreeze the town. "I just can’t believe a True Love expert such as yourself, dear sister, did not come up with this plan."
"Oh please…can you just…" Anna bend down to take some snow into her palms, "let it go, Elsa."
The day ended in a snow fight.

no matter how old I get

I will always be at least slightly convinced that I’m capable of hurting a stuffed animal’s feelings

for me it was less driven by empathy than by fear. i was pretty sure they would murder me in my sleep if i offended them.
